This course will provide you with an introduction to using Actionscript in Flash. You will be able to control graphical objects on screen, react to mouse and keyboard input and use third-party libraries to achieve more complex results.

Who is the course for?

This course requires a good knowledge of Flash, however does not require any Actionscript experience.You should be comfortable creating graphics and animations, tweens, MovieClip, Graphic and Button symbols and know your way around the Flash user interface.

This course is based on Flash CS3 but also applies directly to CS4.

What will you learn?

The course introduces the core concepts of writing Actionscript code to create interactive projects in Flash. It is predominately hands-on, giving you ample opportunity to experiment and get acquainted with Actionscript.

Day 1 looks at the fundamentals of how and where to write Actionscript code. You will learn how to control MovieClip instances and animations with Actionscript. You will also learn how to add interactivity to buttons and react to user input.

Day 2 delves further into the world of programming, introducing you to more complex data structures, such as lists. You will learn about writing code to make decisions, executing repetitive tasks and how to use third-party Actionscript libraries. A workshop-style discussion towards the end of the course includes an introduction to Actionscript-based animation.

About the Presenter

The training course is run by Nils Millahn, an expert Flash and Flex developer with over 13 years top-end industry experience. Based in London, he regularly leads Flash, Flex and Adobe AIR projects for internationally renowned brands and agencies, specialising in the development of complex application architectures.
